Turkish Food Festival at Sofitel Mumbai

Sofitel Mumbai is one of the finest luxury hotels in the city. Being just 5 kms away from the airport and situated in the commercial hub of Mumbai, this lavish property enjoys a strategic location advantage!

On entering the premise, one can see Pondicherry Cafe to their right hand side- which is an all day cafe, with interactive boutique dining that flaunts an authentic market feel; reminiscent of an Indo-French blend of tastes & textures. This spacious cafe is open for buffets, a-la-carte & Sunday brunches.

Currently, Sofitel Mumbai in association with Turkish Airlines have hosted a week long Turkish Food Festival, where in Chef Ramazan & Chef Emre from Turkey whip up Turkish delicacies to treat our taste buds!
The food festival is held at Pondicherry Cafe until 26th March '17, both for lunch and dinner.

Their Turkish food menu is entirely curated and cooked by the two talented chefs, who have come all the way from Istanbul. Their choice of menu includes 3-4 Turkish Salads, 2 starters, 6 main course dishes, 1-2 dessert option & 1 Mocktail.

Due to diversity of ingredients and dishes, the menu keeps changing daily.
However, below are our favourites from the lunch buffet which was held on 20th March:

Ayran
Ayran- A Turkish drink, very similar to buttermilk with key ingredients comprising of yogurt, salt & water.

Biber Borani- Made of Green Bell peppers in yogurt, topped with pomegranate.

Kisir- A fine blend of Bulgur, tomato paste, pomegranate, lemon & parsley.

Balik Corbasi
Balik Corbasi- Fish soup, with thick & creamy textures.

Balik Tava
Balik Tava- Deep fried fish marinated in flour & Turkish spices.

Tavuk Sarma
Tavuk Sarma- Chicken rolled with Zucchini and carrots. This dish tasted incredibly delicious!

Sutlu Potatoes
Sutlu Potatoes- Baked potatoes with milk. Truly amazing, and something different from the regular baked potatoes.

Brokoli Graten
Brokoli Graten- Literally translates to Broccoli Au Gratin.

Tereyagli Pilav- Turkish rice flavoured with cinnamon.

Kuru Fasulye- Harricot beans stew. We paired this with the Turkish rice, and the combination tasted delectable.

Baklava
For desserts we relished a fresh, warm batch of authentic Baklava which was layered with perfection. Do not miss out on it!

Baklava
In all, it was the simplicity that struck the best out of Turkish food. The spices used in the cuisine are very minimal, and a few dishes are very similar to Indian food. The entire spread was beautiful and mouth-watering!
