Mango themed Sunday Brunch at JW Cafe, Mumbai!

By Kiran - 00:16

From the fact that we've always been stressing on the importance of a good Sunday brunch in our previous posts, one should take our reccos very seriously!

So the previous Sunday made us land to JW Marriott Sahar, which is one of the most recognised and esteemed group of hotels in the city. Not only did we enjoy a good brunch, the service & dining experience were impeccable too!

On the arrival of mango season, the Chefs at JW Cafe curate a 'Mango themed Brunch' which happens every Sunday. The highlights of this brunch are fresh mangoes and different mango based connotations.

JW Cafe is located just besides the entrance to the left hand side, the cafe is extremely commodious and can accommodate more than 100 guests at one time. That being said, it's quite easy to imagine how vast the buffet spread was!

On entering the Cafe, a colorful and pretty dessert counter is set up wherein all mango based desserts are placed. Mango puddings, sugar free mango sago, cupcakes, sorbet, donuts or waffles- you name it, they have it. The desserts were indeed very eye-pleasing!

Apart from that, cuisines like Thai, Japanese and Indian formed an integral part of their buffet spread. These counters were again sub-divided to live counters, North & South Indian food counters, Tandoor section, live pasta making, Okonomiyaki station and most people's favorite- Chaat counter.

We'd surely recommend trying out on all of those, but our personal favorites from the brunch were:

  • Chocolate Golgappe
  • Basket Chaat
  • Zafrani Paneer Tikka
  • Banjara Kebab
  • Soy-Ginger Roasted Chicken
  • Roasted Pork belly
  • Potato Roastie with Wild Mushroom Ragu
  • Lamb Dum Biryani
  • Raw Mango Salad
  • Prawns Tempura
  • Mushroom Fritter
  • Sushi (plenty of variety)
  • Mutton Pepper fry
  • Chicken Chettinad curry

For desserts, we advice you not to miss out on Mango Pavlova- as it is clearly the best one we've had till date. It's creamy layers and subtle crisp base tastes heavenly. For diabetics and weight watchers, the Mango Sago is a good option. However the need for more sugar-free desserts is desired.

Their Dark Chocolate marble cake is an amazing piece of art work, that is extremely gooey and perfectly baked. We also loved the Mango sorbet ice cream, the ultra rich waffles, and mango sticky rice which is a Thai speciality dessert.

Mango & Almond Chocolate Shards
All in all, we had a lavish meal that ended well with Mango Milkshake.
Considering the variety in food and taste, we believe the brunch is absolutely value for money.
