How often do we plan a random escapade from the city, just to enjoy a delicious meal and spend some time in serenity? Above all, when was the last time you had a nice meal without any rushing?
Life in a metropolitan is super fast, and we try to keep up with the fast-paced environment. But each one of us need a break. And what if we told you about a getaway within Mumbai?
Here’s presenting you all Jimmy’s Dhaba– a rooftop Dhaba themed restaurant in Bandra Kurla Complex.
Jimmy’s exclusively specialises in North Indian cuisine and cocktails to match the theme, along with desserts that are to die for!
We were invite for a menu tasting, and below are the dishes that we tried-
Bang Bang Chicken
Bang Bang Chicken- Bhoot jhalokia mirch (ghost peppers) being the key ingredient of the marinade, these chicken kebabs taste quite hot & spicy. The kebabs are served with Pineapple dip, inorder to keep the spice quotient balanced. The Chicken being chargrilled on a tandoor, was so juicy and tender. We totally loved this appetizer at Jimmy’s Dhaba.
Bharwan Dhingri
Bharwan Dhingri- Coriander Cheese stuffed Mushrooms, finished in the tandoor.
Mouth-watering mushroom bites, that make it up for the most perfect vegetarian starter!
Pina Colada Prawns
Pina Colada Prawns- King prawns grilled in a marinate of mild spices and served with sliced pineapples and mint Chutney.
Two in One Paneer Tikka
Two in One Paneer Tikka- Paneer Tikka is surely every vegetarian’s favourable starter, but this one at Jimmy’s is not to be missed. The not so regular Paneer Tikka stuffed with basil pesto between paneer cubes and coated in rich tandoor masala. Absolutely recommended!
Punnu Bread Pakoda
Punnu Bread Pakoda- Steaming hot & crispy bread pakodas served with spicy green Chutney. Bread pakode ki kasam, these were the best!! 😛
Paneer Methi Malai Tikka
Paneer Methi Malai Tikka- Fresh paneer cubes coated with malai and hint of spices. This starter was mild in terms of spices, but tasted divine!
Kadak Masala Roomali
Kadak Masala Roomali- The giant version of Masala papad, only made with roomali Roti base. This accompaniment, being very crispy seemed too dry and lacked appropriate amount of juicy toppings.
Welcome drink
While we hogged on to such drool-worthy starters, the cocktails at Jimmy’s were an absolute saviour to keep us hydrated.
Spice on the Rocks
The cocktails are mainly crafted for a refreshing appeal. Not very fancy, but the simplified versions of each cocktail left us spellbound by their taste!
Basil Julep
Our recommendations- Basil Julep, Wake Up and Eco Friendly.
Wake Up
For mains, we gobbled up some typical, hard-core Punjabi food. We bet you’ll drool looking at the picture!
In the picture above, (from left to right) showcased is:
  • Sarson Ka Saag
  •  Dal Makhani
  • Butter Chicken
  • Basil Cheese Naan
  • Makka ki Roti
  • Namak Laal Mirch ka Paratha
  • Olive and Chilli Flake Naan
Let us assure you that the spread was totally authentic and made in the traditional Punjabi way. The breads paired extremely well with all the gravys and we had a rush of flavors lingering our palates.
Well, what’s a complete meal without a round of desserts?
To our surprise, their menu has a whole new level of exciting fusion desserts. We just couldn’t wait to get our hands on them!
Gajjar Halwa and Prune Cake
Gajjar Halwa and Prune Cake- Traditional Gajjar Halwa with a hint of prunes and a large serving of rabdi. The presentation was neat and about perfect! The Halwa was moist and delectable.
Gulabjamun Tart
Gulabjamun Tart- Thick layer of rabdi topped with mini gulabjamuns, placed on a pastry base. Now this is what we call innovation! This dessert left us in awe, as it is creamy and delicious beyond words. Again, full marks for presentation.
Maggai Paan Pannacotta
Maggai Paan Pannacotta- Maggai Paan is believed to be the most sweet and tender paan among the variety, hence the Pannacotta made from that showcased the exact tenderness. The gulkand flavor balanced the dessert very well and left a super refreshing after-taste. Jimmy’s Dhaba definitely set the bar a notch higher for all the emerging North Indian eateries!
Sunset captured from Jimmy’s Dhaba
So if you’re a sucker for very good & authentic Punjabi food, and have a thing for roof-top locations, Jimmy’s Dhaba seems the best place for your visit.
For it’s breathtakingly beautiful view, and food that’s been served, this place is extremely light on your pockets.
Believe it or not, a meal for two (including drinks) should cost approximately INR 1500/-
Address: Rooftop, Pinnacle Corporate Park, Next to Trade Centre, Opp. MTNL Office, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.
The Hungry Cancerian verdict for Jimmy’s Dhaba is 4.5/5
